I'm looking for a book about an American man who was captured by warfare guerrillas in a foreign country.?

I can't remember the author's name or the title of the book. But when he was captured he was on a mission for America. When he escaped he took another captured American (a woman) with him and the spent the majority of the book running from their prisoners.
